LILY & AURICULA handblock

A beautiful design from 1855 in which pale lilies and auriculas with rich green leaves are encircled within a loosely defined pattern of foliage on a plain background. Printed with some twenty-four blocks, many of which have been in use for over a century, each repeat requires ninety-six block applications. The result is a fabric of extraordinary botanical richness and historical depth.
