LILAC & ROSE

The original drawing for this design, dated 1863, is still in existence. Closely printed columns of roses and lilac border both sides, with small bunches of the same flowers scattered across the central panel and trailing leaves in the background. Printed on both chintz and fine linen, Lilac and Rose is one of the most generously composed designs in the collection.
