HYDRANGEA & ROSE

Adapted from a block-printed chintz of the early 1840s, when climbing designs of this kind were greatly favoured by the Victorians. Roses and hydrangeas, perennial favourites of the period, are set against an interesting stippled ground that adds depth and character to the composition. A thoroughly English design of mid-Victorian confidence, as beautiful in a bedroom as in a drawing room.
